30 Years

Incredible as it seems we are coming up to 30 years of running the dojo in September 2010. Paul has suggested we have a get-together, probably at the Priory pub. Please let any ex-members you're in contact with know about this as well. There have been hundreds over the years and it would be great to see some old faces there.

Tests

Well done again to all those who tested in December. A good effort all round. Please remember getting a belt is the easy part, living up to it is often harder. We all tend to relax a bit after passing, but really this is the time to set new goals. Aim high.

Declan

My warmest congratulations to Declan and Sally on the birth of Padraig, brother to Noel.

Wayne

I was delighted to hear from Wayne over Christmas. His work and home situation has now stabilised and he has asked about rejoining in the new year. I will be pleased to see him back training.....

Sessions

Training re-starts on Monday 4th January. Now the numbers have increased I need to consider splitting the classes again on both nights. This is more about safely managing the numbers than making life easy. Suggested times are 1815 – 1915hrs (Parents: Please let me know if this is feasible) and 1930 – 2100hrs. Classes could continue to be mixed during school holidays. More information to follow.

Spectacles

Glasses may be worn during training at the risk of the individual wearer. Ideally they should be removed when sparring. If that is not possible, please make sure they are robust ‘sports’ glasses that will not cause injury if accidentally broken.

Saturdays

The Saturday class at John Skillen Martial Arts now runs from 0800 to 0900hrs so is over by the time many are getting out of bed. Those who attend seem to enjoy (?) it, but more to the point feel they benefit from the closer instruction, mirrors, mats and bags. Please come along if and when you can.
